So the year is almost over. but that doesn't mean we stop the filming =] We just received the new Flip video camera for CureViolence.com We all had one day to film about our own personal clips on violence. It was pretty fun to be able to get the cameras and do our own thing with the techniques we learned. The film festival is now days away and we can't wait to see our film along with others.

Today on 5/6/10 we are editing a 1 minute 30 second trailer that is for the reel that will screen at the Cultural Center. We are editing a poetry film done by our fellow classmates, some of the stanzas are personal. The title of the poem is "What If" and mostly talks about what if certain problems or laws that have been placed in our world today have been solved or erased. For example allowing gay marriage, ending racism and ending murder and crime.

The last couple of classes we have went outside to shoot around Lakeview. Last week the Cubs played the Arizona Dimondbacks and there was a protest outside of the game about the current bill SB1070. It was awesome to get some protest footage and interviews with the protesters. Today we went out to the lake and recorded some time lapse shots for our video poem. We are all excited for the Festival on the 24th of May at the CULTURAL CENTER!!!

We finally finished our rough cut of our film! =]

So now we just have to go through and fix up the little odds and ends to make it even better. We had a little taste of what the actual film festival will be like since we showed it to the rest of our school to ask for some feedback. The feedback we received was very helpful, which was: to slow down our end title and switch around one of our scenes to be more understandable. In the end we loved our film and are happy we achieved our goal.

Our work is still not complete. We are currently working on 2 more projects. They are all still in production. One film is about addressing our school policies and finding creative ways to deal with them. The second is a video poem which we are at this very moment getting the most amazing shots of the Lakeview neighborhood!

So we can not wait for the film festival which is on May 24th at the beautiful Cultural Center. We are also looking forward to seeing what other schools were able to do.

new poem project

Today we worked on our new poem project. The poems we read were written by us. We all had to go around and read each poem and then we did verses.
Yesterday we started editing our animation film. We also learned how tedious editing really is. We also started filming 3rd scene, which was difficult because it was on a dry erase board. Spring break is coming up so we will have to hustle to get everything together.

Today we are shooting scene three. We are in super crunch time because the film festival is near.
We are also doing a video poem so that is something we are looking forward to do. The video poem is going to be a combination of our work .We are excited for the film festival at the Cultural Center! We hope these two films will be gold winners =]

Well eveyone...

today we are still working on prop making... it was supposed to be our first day of production but some of our classmates could not make it to class. Today we learned a valuable lesson about how important every member in the production is. It does not matter if you are a producer, sound person, assistant or the director. You are crucial to the success of the final product. But we are making it through and feel confident.

Howdy friends-
LVA is in the house. We are working on our new final film for the film festival in May!
It is using animation, stop-motion, handmade props, and we are making our own music for it!
